Anne Urquhart-Edwards - Artist's Statement
My work continues to explore the notion of memories and presence. Memories of smells, touch, and taste, long forgotten and barely tangible. Marks, colours, faint aromas, lingering echoes of barely audible sounds trigger tantalising recollections, all of which have informed and inspired my recent paintings. Anyone who has lived for a time with the unfamiliar and experienced a different culture to their own will identify with this and the work that this experience has led to.
When we let the moments of stillness bleed into us, they are there forever, to tefall, even if ephemerally. It is being in the moment...............
Seeing through our senses, reflecting while perceiving to bring back a perfect moment whenever we dream.
